Terms and Conditions
Read Smart Horizon training terms covering registration requests, quotations, fees, cancellations, course changes and participant responsibilities.
Last updated: 16 October 2026. These terms apply to new bookings accepted from this date and must be read with your written booking agreement. Existing bookings retain their agreed terms. Statutory rights are not excluded.
1. About these terms
These terms describe how Smart Horizon handles training enquiries, quotations and registration requests. Any programme-specific variation must be expressly agreed in writing before a binding booking is accepted. Contact info@smarthorizon.uk if you need clarification.
2. Registration and booking confirmation
Submitting a registration records a request only. An acknowledgement email, quotation or invoice does not reserve a place or guarantee that a programme will run. A booking is confirmed only when our team provides express written confirmation and the agreed booking conditions have been met.
3. Quotations, fees and payment
Fees are denominated in the displayed currency and are per participant unless expressly stated otherwise. The accepted written quotation or booking agreement sets out the agreed fee, inclusions and applicable taxes. Travel and accommodation are not included unless expressly agreed. Invoices are due 30 days after issue. If the course starts in fewer than 30 days, payment is due five days before the course starts; if that date has already passed, payment is due immediately on issue. No payment is due on an unsent draft. An invoice does not reserve or confirm a place. If an invoice remains overdue, we may withhold booking confirmation or attendance, contact the payer and recover the unpaid balance in accordance with the written agreement and applicable law. Interest or recovery costs apply only where agreed or permitted by law. Public registrations use 0% VAT when an EU VAT number is successfully validated through VIES; otherwise 20% VAT applies. Invoices are not payment receipts. Verify payment instructions with our team before paying.
4. Cancellations, substitutions and refunds
For business bookings, send cancellation requests to info@smarthorizon.uk, quoting the booking reference. Notice is measured in calendar days from receipt of the written request to the scheduled course start date. The following policy applies unless a different policy was expressly agreed in writing before booking:
- At least 30 calendar days before the start: no cancellation charge and a full refund of course fees paid.
- 15 to 29 calendar days before the start: a cancellation charge of 50% of the course fee and a refund of any payment exceeding that charge.
- Fewer than 15 calendar days before the start, or non-attendance: the full course fee is payable and no course-fee refund is due.
Participant substitutions requested in writing before the start are free of charge, provided the replacement meets any stated prerequisites. Date transfers require written agreement and are not automatic. We will confirm any refund and applicable tax adjustment in writing and return the refund to the original payer using the original payment method where possible. An administrative cancellation notification is not proof that a refund has been processed. This business cancellation schedule does not override mandatory consumer cancellation or refund rights.
5. Programme changes, provider cancellation and force majeure
Open course plans have confirmed dates; tentative plans are enquiry only and cannot be registered. Your place is confirmed only by our written booking confirmation. If we cancel a confirmed course or materially change its dates or delivery location, you may choose an available replacement session or a refund of fees paid for the undelivered training, including the corresponding applicable taxes. You are not required to accept a replacement.
Force majeure means an event outside our reasonable control that prevents delivery, such as severe weather, natural disaster, public-health restrictions, war, civil disruption or government restrictions. We will notify affected customers promptly and discuss replacement arrangements. If delivery is cancelled because of such an event, the same choice of replacement session or refund for undelivered training applies; force majeure does not remove that refund option. We do not reimburse separately arranged travel, accommodation or visa costs, except where required by law. Obtain written confirmation before making those arrangements. Training acknowledgements are not visa invitation letters.
6. Participant responsibilities
Provide accurate contact and billing details, meet any stated prerequisites and participate respectfully. Tell us about relevant accessibility or learning requirements before booking so that we can discuss feasible arrangements. Participants are responsible for their own travel documents and arrangements unless expressly agreed otherwise.
7. Learning materials, qualifications and outcomes
Materials are provided for participants' learning and permitted personal use. Do not reproduce, sell or distribute protected materials without permission. Training is educational, not a substitute for regulated professional advice. Participants who complete a programme receive a Smart Horizon UK certificate of attendance. Smart Horizon UK programmes are not externally accredited and do not award a professional qualification, licence or designation. Where a course title or outline refers to a professional certification, the programme supports learning and preparation only; the credential itself is awarded solely by the relevant professional body under its own requirements. Outcomes depend on individual participation and application; no employment, financial result or accreditation is guaranteed.
8. Personal information
We collect enquiry, participant and billing information to respond to requests, administer documents and communicate about training. Transactional emails are separate from marketing consent. See our Privacy and Cookie Policy for how personal information is used, shared and retained, and how to exercise your rights. Do not submit sensitive information that is unnecessary for your enquiry.
9. Concerns and statutory rights
Contact our learning team in writing, quoting your booking or document reference, so we can investigate a concern and respond. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits rights or liabilities that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including liability for fraud or death or personal injury caused by negligence. Consumers retain all mandatory rights under applicable law.
